Born in Cardiff, Wales, Lynn H. Elliott is an award-winning playwright, novelist, and screenwriter whose work spans continents, cultures, and genres. He earned his undergraduate degree in England at the University of Nottingham, later moving to the United States, where he completed both his MA and PhD at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
With a distinguished academic career at California State University, Chico, Lynn taught English and Creative Writing and served as Chair of the English Department for six years. His decades in the classroom deeply shaped his approach to storytelling, infusing his work with rigorous craft, historical awareness, and emotional truth.
Lynn’s creative portfolio is impressively diverse: stage plays, feature screenplays, short films, essays, and fiction. His work is marked by recurring themes of identity, exile, moral conflict, and cultural memory—a reflection of his own life lived between Wales and America. From historical dramas like Alta California to character-driven contemporary stories, Lynn’s writing is praised for its emotional resonance, sharp dialogue, and bold engagement with difficult truths.
Beyond writing, Lynn is a dedicated community member and a lifelong learner. He sings tenor in a choir, holds a black belt in Sinmoo Hapkido, and volunteers weekly at a local food locker. He lives in Chico, California with his wife, Dani, and returns frequently to the UK to visit family.
Elliott continues to create work that challenges, illuminates, and inspires—establishing him as a distinctive and powerful voice in contemporary theatre and screenwriting.
